VG: Vkei-Guide is a web magazine that guides overseas people to Japan through the Visual-kei music culture. What do you like about Japan?

Nimo: I like Japan because I can feel four seasons. Especially, I like the scent of the wind in the turn of seasons.

VG: Your 1^st solo single “Silent Lark” (venues limited release) was released on September 7, 2019. Please share us the origin of the title.

Nimo: “Lark” is a bird. It is said that larks are birds that signify the coming of spring. I image spring as a “new season”. I wanted to express the pain of the lark that is unable to sing towards new season.

VG: The CD jacket is so beautiful. What kind of image led to this design?

Nimo: I think birds beautifully sing, flying freely in the sky. The inmost power is expressed by portraying the bird trying hard to spread its wings in the silent abyss. Although no one will ever know about the book that sunk in the abyss there is surely a story that exists.

VG: Why did you choose piano arrangement for your 1^st solo single?

Nimo: I wanted to further improve my singing and decided to put myself in the position where I cannot falsify my singing with only the piano and vocal. However, I am also making a band version of this song. I think it will have a completely different image so please look forward to it.

VG: The lyrics are written by you. Please share with us the theme of this song. And also, please tell us what you recommend of this song.

Nimo: It is a love story with the theme of a lark in pain unable to sing to the start of a new season, but there is a scene where the lark eventually steps forward to a new start. When there is an end, there will always be a new start. I wanted to say that there are no limits in taking new steps in life.

VG: Can we expect a song with musical composition written by you in the future?

Nimo: Of course, I want to write my own music as well.

VG: Several months passed since you started your solo activities. How do you feel now?

Nimo: There are many hardships because I have to do all of the things by myself, but I am very satisfied because I can pursue something I want to express and do it thoroughly. It takes a hell of a time, though. [Laughs]

VG: You are currently holding many lives. What is the difference between rock and acoustic lives?

Nimo: The important thing in rock is the power that shakes bodies and souls and, emotion should be delivered from the vibe of both body and soul.

In acoustic lives, the delicate feelings are delivered even through the subtle breathing and, I think emotion should be brought out from the heart.

VG: What do the fans mean to you?

Nimo: I think the fans who still supporting me regardless of being solo are my life-time treasure. I am able to sing because of my fans. I want to support them firmly with my songs.

VG: Lastly, please give your message to your fans who always support you and future fans.

Nimo: I think there are many hardships when starting a new journey. I really think people that stay close to you at such times are the ones you should cherish. I will continue to sing songs that will reach people’s hearts that the fans can say with confidence that they are supporting Nimo. Please support me!

VG: Vkei-Guideはヴィジュアル系を通して日本をガイドするというコンセプトのウェブサイトです。Nimoさんにとって日本の好きなところはどんなところでしょうか。

Nimo: 四季を感じられるところ。季節の変わり目の風の香りが好きです。

VG: 2019年9月7日にライブ会場限定発売の1stソロシングル「Silent Lark」をリリースされましたが、まずはタイトルの由来を教えてください。

Nimo: Larkは日本語で『ヒバリ』の意味です。ヒバリは春を告げる鳥と言われています。自分は春を“新しい季節”と捉えています。新たな季節へ向けて鳴くことができない切なさを表現したいと思いました。

VG: とても美しいジャケットですが、どのようなイメージでこのデザインになりましたか。

Nimo: 鳥といえば大空を自由に羽ばたきながら美しく歌うものだと思います。このジャケットでは無音の深海の中を懸命に羽ばたこうとする鳥を描くことで、心の中に秘めた力強さを表現してみました。

深海に沈む本は誰にも知られることがないけれど、たしかに存在するたった１つの物語をイメージしました。

VG: 1stソロシングルの曲のアレンジとして、なぜピアノが選ばれたのでしょうか。

Nimo: 自分の歌をさらに良いものにしていこうという決心から、ピアノと歌というごまかしのきかない最低限の音数で勝負しようと思いました。ただ、この作品に関してはバンドアレンジも制作しています。またガラッと違うイメージをお届けできると思うので楽しみにしていてほしいです。

VG: Nimoさん作詞ということで、この曲のテーマを教えてください。また、どんなところが聴いて欲しいポイントでしょうか。

Nimo: 新しい季節を告げることができずに苦しむヒバリをテーマにした恋愛ストーリーですが、最終的には新たな一歩を踏み出していく決意のシーンがあります。終わりがあるということは新しいスタートが待っているということ。人生は何度でも新たな一歩を踏み出せるということを伝えたかったです。

VG: 今後Nimoさんの作曲も期待していいでしょうか。

Nimo: もちろん作曲もしていきたいと思っています。

VG: ソロとして活動して数か月が経過しましたが、改めてどんな気分ですか。

Nimo: 全てを自分で進めていくので大変なこともたくさんありますが、その分自分が表現したいことややりたいことをとことん追求できるので充実しています。時間はめっちゃかかってしまっていますが。笑

VG: 現在、とても精力的にライブ活動をしていますが、ロックライブとアコースティックライブにはどのような違いを感じますか。

Nimo: ロックに大切なのは全身と心を揺さぶるパワー感で、外から感動を届けるもの。

アコースティックに大切なのは息遣いまで届ける繊細感で、内側から滲み出る感動を引き出すものなのではないでしょうか？

VG: Nimoさんにとって応援してくれるファンはどういう存在でしょうか。

Nimo: こうして1人になった今でも応援してくれる皆さんは自分にとっては人生の生涯の宝物だと思っています。自分が歌を唄うことができるのはファンの皆さんがいてくれるからです。

歌でしっかりとみんなを支えていきたいと思います。

VG: では最後に、いつも応援してくれているファン、そしてこれから応援してくれるファンへメッセージをお願いします。

Nimo: 新たな旅を始めるということは辛く苦しいこともたくさんあると思います。そんなときにそばにいてくれる人こそ本当に大切にするべき人だと思っています。Nimoを応援していると胸を張って言えるような心に響く歌を唄っていこうと思っています。
