【VG】Live Report | MEJIBRAY -NO MOUTH SLIVERS- TOUR FINAL “find your AVALON” & Tsuzuku Birthday ＠Yokohama Bay Hall 15th Dec 2016

MEJIBRAY have been going on a nationwide tour 「-NO MOUTH SLIVERS-」 since November and their final show “find your AVALON” was performed on 15^th December at Yokohama Bay Hall.

It made the day even more special as 15^th December was Tsuzuku (Vo.)’s birthday and it was also their 150^th one-man live show.

The fans were gathering from all over the country for this big day and awaiting for the moment that MEJIBRAY to appear on the stage.

Once the SE “猛毒 (Moudoku)” had begun, the audiences’ excitement instantly heated up to top volume and each fan was calling the name of their beloved band members.

Finally, Meto, Koichi, MiA and Tsuzuku stepped on to the stage one after another in their latest white-themed costumes.

The very first song was “Sliver” – its speedy and aggressive tune incited the audiences straight away; so they were yelling out and thrusting their fists into the air rhythmically. MiA (Gu.) was from the beginning showing off his stunning shredding guitar technique.

In the next breath, they continued to “アヴァロン (Avalon)”, which was included in the title of this live show. Delightful melody and Tsuzuku’s vibrant voice were echoing in the venue.

Then in “VICTIM(ism)”, the audiences were bringing a sense of unity by headbanging and jumping altogether.

Now MEJIBRAY threw “ACME” to satisfy the thirsty crowd who are craving for more aggressiveness. 「Move to the side and open up the space in the middle!」– following Tsuzuku’s order, the audiences started slamming into each other with ‘wall of death’ and showing their counterattacking attitude to MEJIBRAY.

After “ACME”, they performed “DIRTY PIG PSYCHO”, shifting the atmosphere to the stirring shuffle beat where Koichi (Ba.)’s sense of bass play shined out. Then continued to the SE “天地創造 –黒い雨– (Tenchi Souzou -Kuroi Ame-)”.

In contrast with the first half, where they presented the aggressive side of MEJIBRAY, they performed dark and heavy tunes in the middle of the show.

In the gloomy yet dramatic ballad “鳥は泳ぎ方を知らず溺れ亡骸 (Tori wa Oyogikata wo Shirazu Obore Nakigara)”, which began with a beautiful piano intro, Tsuzuku enchanted the audiences with his impassioned high-tone voice.

Then continued leading the venue to the grave atmosphere with “Baby Crossing” and “欲槽 (Yokusou)”.

MiA’s emotional guitar solo in “Baby Crossing” was grabbing the heart of each audience member stood there. Meto (Dr.), despite looking lovely, was beating the drums powerfully and stably. Tsuzuku was singing and shouting as if shrieking yet lusciously. Their charismatic performance was inspiring the audiences an electrifying feeling of tension.

To warm the crowd up again, here they played their latest song “ナナキ (Nanaki)”, which was recorded in the distributed CD at this tour. “ナナキ (Nanaki)” can be described as a splendid mixture of various faces of MEJIBRAY, with melodious chorus and majestic guitar solo. Followed by the SE, entering the latter half of the show.

「Yokohama ～!」– by Tsuzuku’s instigation, “DECADANCE -Counting Goats… if I can’t be yours-” was launched. The audiences were clapping hands and made a dazzling view of ‘folding’ headbanging; the venue was literally shaking with their jumping moves along with Koichi’s swayable groove.

「I have got older again today」– said Tsuzuku and received warm cheers and applause. Then continued to the next song “嘘と愚行 –それもまた人間らしいって神様は笑ってるの– (Uso to Gukou -Soremo mata Ningen rashiitte Kamisama wa Waratteruno-)”. The call-and-response of 「F**K F**K F**K!」 between the members and the audiences as well as Tsuzuku’s fierce headbanging were making an absolute chaotic scene.

「Not enough at all, bring it on!! Who’s birthday do you think today is!」– provoked the audiences and burst into “Negator NEGATOR”. The whipped up audiences responded with violent headbanging and ‘gyaku-dive (moshing and jumping on towards the stage)’. Tsuzuku finally dived into the crowd that were reaching the peak of fanatic ambience!

In “原罪の林檎 (Genzai no Ringo)”, which started with the impressive pinch harmonics, the members and the audiences were moving around wildly on the stage and the floor. Koichi was also joining to arouse the audiences with holding his mic-stand up high to lead them to further enthusiasm.

The audiences were all singing along in “THE END” – one of MEJIBRAY’s pop tunes. MiA was confidently performing a melodious and glorious guitar solo with delay effects.

The final song for the main stage was their 18^th single “羽花 (Uka)”. Its sensational bossa-nova-inspired chorus fascinated everyone, yet they were still powerfully banging heads to the aggressive riff. The members also seemed contentedly playing the pleasant sound in the latter half of the song.

The call for encore by the crowd was echoing and filling the venue each and every second. They still seemed wanting more MEJIBRAY.

As if to respond the call from the fans, Meto firstly reappeared on the stage and started beating the drums to the rhythmical call they were making. Once Koichi, MiA and Tsuzuku also returned to the stage, they started playing “Mechanical beauty”. This digital metal tune was performed at every single place in this tour and again it immediately brought back a storm of headbanging. Now “D.E.INCUBUS” began with an intense call-and-response between Tsuzuku, Koichi and the audiences. They were yelling at the top of their voice and waving towels madly in the air.

The danceable tune “Invisible Tower maker” shook the venue with jumps; the members and the audiences were making certain of their feelings of togetherness.

「Give me your soul and voice!!」– shouted Tsuzuku; then led to “枷と知能 –それってとても人間らしいって神様は笑ってるの– (Kase to Chinou -Sorette totemo Ningen rashiitte Kamisama wa Waratteruno-)”. No one was showing any sign of fatigue and kept moshing like hell; the members and the audiences were relishing the precious moment of being there.

The last song was “メサイア (Messiah)”– MEJIBRAY’s all-time best tune. Started with MiA’s spectacular shredding guitar; Meto was dazzling the audiences with his dynamic and speedy drumming; Koichi was playing passionately yet seductively and Tsuzuku was putting his whole energy into shouting. The crowd was responding with breathtaking headbanging with all their might until the final second.

The members and audiences brought out their best and the final show was concluded magnificently.

MEJIBRAY will be celebrating their 6^th year anniversary in 2017. They have already announced their next one-man nationwide tour 「HANGMAN」 and new release of single collection album. Please do not miss out their future activities!
