On June 12, Tsukasa Mogamigawa’s debut 1st anniversary Enka show consisting of 2 parts, the 1st part entitled “Mahiru no Tsuki” and the 2nd part entitled “Yamiyo no Tsuki,” was held in Asakusa in Tokyo, an area where Japanese traditional culture still remains. Different from usual rock shows, the Enka show was seated, and the show was filled with multiple forms of entertainment, such as talks, dance, and Tate (a sword battle) in addition to music.
When Tsukasa Mogamigawa, wearing a red and black kimono, appeared on the stage under red illumination, he bowed deeply in the center of the stage according to the Enka style. He sang happily, encouraging the fans at the sold-out venue to clap their hands for “Kitasaskaba,” which he has been performing for a year. When he paused to speak, he said “I am Tsukasa Mogamigawa from Yamagata, the world’s first, new style visual-kei Enka singer. Thanks to everyone, a year has already passed.” He expressed his gratitude, but made the audience laugh with his inconsistent words as he said “I felt the year was long, but it felt short.” Then he emotionally sang with love to Sakuranbo (cherries) which is a specialty of his home prefecture, Yamagata, in “SakuranboKoiuta.” For the next medley consisting of six songs, he expressed a variety of characteristics with his voice, including both happy music and heartbreaking songs.
Tsukasa, who comes from the Tohoku, district sang a charity song for Great East Japan earthquake called “Hana wa Saku” after SHUN. (THE MICRO HEAD 4N’S), who has joined all of Tsukasa’s shows as a support musician, came on to the stage. As SHUN. steadily supported Tsukasa with stable acoustic guitar sounds, Tsukasa sang, putting his hand onto his chest as he seemed to think nostalgically about the Tohoku district. The venue became unified with everyone waving penlights to the music, creating an impressive space. Tsukasa introduced the next song “BoukyouJonkara” as a cool Enka song after SHUN. moved to his DJ booth. Tsukasa used tremolo with a thick voice, and the song was a perfect fit for the V-kei singer which let Tsukasa appeal to the fans with power. As “Hitohira no Sakura” started with the shamisen, two dancers joined, and the stage became gorgeous all at once. Koto (Japanese harp) overlapped with taiko (Japanese drums) before the sensitive sounds of Tsukasa’s Japanese flute resounded in the venue. For “Matsuri,” which symbolized Japanese men, Tsukasa performed some dances on the stage for the first time, and during “Matsupoiyo,” the debut song which could probably be called his pronominal song, perhaps Tsukasa sang while remembering his various activities and feelings over the year after his debut.
SHUN. SHUN.
Tsukasa’s personality as a rock artist was maximized in “YozakuraOshichi,” the rock version, and Tsukasa sexily performed Tate with a challenging expression. However, SHUN., as his rival, made the audience laugh as he revived himself like a zombie again and again. Finally, Tsukasa got cheers from the fans after saying one of his signature phrases, “I’ve cut the crud, but I can’t cut my connection with you!”After Tsukasa entertained the audience with a bright tune called “NaniwabushidayoJinseiwa”as the last song, he left the stage, waving his hands and smiling.
For the encore, Tsukasa gave his appreciation to the members of THE MICRO HEAD 4N’S, who have always supported him, and sang “Matsupoiyo” again with gratitude to all.
For part 2, ‘Yamiyo no Tsuki,” the setlist was changed a little from part 1, and his talk was polished so that everyone, not only those who came to see only part 2 but also those who saw part 1 as well, was able to enjoy the show, and of course, it caused even more laughter. “I heard that one’s breeding and personality naturally comes out in songs. My training has been different from other Enka singers, but I feel that my love for Enka cannot be beaten. I want to show my personality, and be myself.” The passion the Enka singer Tsukasa Mogamigawa felt was delivered at the last moment.
Tsukasa Mogamigawa, who has acted as an Enka singer for a year, has no hesitation. He purely chased his childhood dream, and was supported by lots of people. He wants to keep directly chasing his dream to repay everyone for the support. And also, in order to respond to the members’ support and feelings of THE MICRO HEAD 4N’S who will continue to work together, Tsukasa will give his all in his activities as both an Enka singer and the band’s drummer.
