One of the famous spot for shooting music video is “Oya History Museum” (大谷資料館 Oya Shiryokan) in Utsunomiya, Tochigi prefecture.
From 1919 to 1986, there was a huge underground mine where “Oya stone” could be produced. After the mining finished, the space became a mysterious place. The space is 20 thousand square kilometers. It is chilly as the average temperature is 8 degrees Celsius, so you might feel being in a big refrigerator. The place was also used as a basement secret factory during war, and as a storage for rice after war. Now, it is used as a place for concert, museum, theater, wedding chapel and studio for photography or film.
大谷資料館の地下採掘場跡は、１９１９年（大正８年）から１９８６年（昭和６１年）までの約７０年をかけて、 大谷石を掘り出して出来た巨大な地下空間です。その広さは、２万平方メートル（１４０ｍ×１５０ｍ）にもおよび、野球場が一つ入ってしまう大きさです。 なお、坑内の年平均気温は８℃前後で、地下の大きな冷蔵庫といった感じです。 戦争中は地下の秘密工場として、戦後は政府米の貯蔵庫として利用され、現在では、コンサートや美術展、演劇場、 地下の教会として、また写真や映画のスタジオとしても注目を集めています。

Take a bus, bound for Oya and Tateiwa from No.6 bus stop at West Exit of Utsunomiya Station (JR Line). It takes 30 minutes to “Shiryoukan Iriguchi”. Get off at “Shiryoukan Iriguchi”, and walk 10 minutes to Oya History Museum.
