【VG】 Live Report | defspiral tour 2016 “EXPLOSION” MASAKI’s Return Live

The return live of defspiral’s MASAKI, who had been on hiatus since January 2016, was held at Takadanobaba CLUB PHASE on August 2, 2016 as the first show of their summer tour titled “EXPLOSION.” The voltage mounted at once for the setlist, which focused on their past songs as if they were trying to defy expectations.

（2015年12月のライブを最後に活動を休止したdefspiralのドラマーMASAKIの復活祭がこの夏のツアー「EXPLOSION」の初日として2016年8月2日、高田馬場CLUB PHASEで開催された。ファンの予想をいい意味で裏切るような過去の曲を中心としたセットリストに会場のヴォルテージは一気に跳ね上がった。）

As the show was entitled as MASAKI’s return, it started with a drum solo. With a focus on the rolling deep sound, MASAKI created a technical rhythm with cymbals. When MASAKI raised his hand, calls for him filled the floor, and he continuously beat out the rhythm deeply and passionately, illuminated by the spotlight. The drum sound, which the fans had waited eagerly for, made them smile.

（MASAKI復活祭と題しているだけに、まずはドラムソロからスタート。轟くような重低音を中心に、シンバルで巧みにリズムを作りだす。手をあげればMASAKIコールが会場を満たし、スポットライトを浴びながら深く激しくリズムを刻む。ファンが待ち望んでいたドラムサウンドが会場全員を笑顔にした。）

When the other three members, TAKA, MASATO, and RYO, who watched the drum solo to the end, appeared on the stage, their first single, “DIVE INTO THE MIRROR” started as if the band was showing their determination to restart. The next song was also an early rock tune, “REVOLVER”. Red and white strobes heated the audience up more, and MASAKI beat the drums, rocking his head excitedly. As MASATO and RYO swayed their bodies intensely, TAKA put all his energy into the vocals.

（そしてドラムソロを見届けたメンバー3人、TAKA、MASATO、RYOがステージに登場すると、再出発の決意を見せるかのように始まった1曲目はファーストシングルの「DIVE INTO THE MIRROR」。続く曲も初期のロックチューン「REVOLVER」。赤と白のストロボが会場をさらに盛り上げ、頭を振り楽しそうに叩くMASAKI。MASATOとRYOは激しく体を揺らし、TAKAはその声にすべての力を注ぎこむ。）

In “MASQUERADE” and “PARADISE,” which were fascinating songs among their dance music, the fans danced wildly. TAKA sexily approached MASATO; meanwhile, RYO looked sharply and provocatively at the audience. The very defspiral-ish staging mixed intensity and sexual charm.

（そしてダンスナンバーの中でも妖艶な「MASQUERADE」、「PARADISE」ではファンは踊り乱れ、TAKAは色気たっぷりにMASATOに絡み、RYOは力強い視線でファンを挑発する。まさにdefspiralらしい激しさと色気の入り乱れるステージが繰り広げられた。）

“Tokyo! defspiral has come back! Welcome to Tour EXPLOSION! I would like to have a special night tonight!” TAKA expressed his feelings about their first oneman live in a while with the complete, four-member defspiral.

（「東京！defspiral帰ってきました！ツアーEXPLOSIONへようこそ！最高の夜にしたいと思います！」とTAKAのMCからは久しぶりにメンバー全員が揃った完全なdefspiralとしてのワンマンライブに対する熱い思いが伝えられた。）

After the emcee, early songs also followed. “TWILIGHT”, one of the heaviest songs, got momentum suddenly from the middle of the intro, and MASATO and RYO madly headbanged over the audience’s excitement.

（この後も初期の曲が続き、イントロの途中から一気に激しくなる「トワイライト」は、最も激しさのある曲の1つで、会場の熱気も一気に上がり、MASATOとRYOもファンに負けまいと激しくヘドバンで応戦した。）

“As everyone knows, we have played together for a long time. I felt what should have been an everyday thing was not so ordinary due to MASAKI’s absence.” TAKA delivered and shouted, “This moment!” before “GLARE” began. TAKA’s feelings that he wanted to value every moment he was with the members and FREAKS were put into this song packed with the feeling of evanescence and the importance of time.

（「みんな知っている通り、長年ずっとやってきたけど、MASAKIがいないということで、当たり前のことが当たり前でないことなんだと感じました。」とMASAKIの不在に対する思いを述べ、「今この一瞬を！」とTAKAが叫び始まった「GLARE」。時の儚さ、そして大切さが詰め込まれたこの曲に、メンバーそしてFREAKSといるこの時間一瞬一瞬を大切にしたいという想いが歌に込められた。）

The band attacked with continuous wild songs, and in “SILVER ARROW”, the last song of the main set, the catchy melody won the hearts and minds of the audience in the chorus, in contrast to the intro which overwhelmed with the heavy sound and the robustness created by the members. The floor was filled with the dynamic sound in addition to the heaviness as if to show “This is the last!”

（そして激しい曲続きで一気に攻め込み、本編最後の「SILVER ARROW」ではメンバーによって作りだされる重厚なサウンドそして勢いで圧倒するイントロに対し、サビではキャッチーなメロディーがファンの心を掴む。これがラストだとメンバーからファンに激しさを突きつけるかのようにダイナミックなサウンドが会場を満たした。）

In the encore, “RAINBOW” in which TAKA sang with various voices, including a languid voice and a relaxed voice, and “FARAWAY” in which the furious bass-drums in the intro passed through the floor, followed, and “CARNAVAL” with bouncy rhythms, which TAKA wrote while thinking about the fans, was performed last. Such a song, filled with lots of emotion from TAKA, was played with gratitude to the fans who always supported the band, and the members’ wish that the fans would support them from now on.

（アンコールではTAKAが少し気だるく力を抜いて歌うなど様々な声を聴かせてくれる「RAINBOW」、そしてイントロで激しいバスドラが会場を突き抜ける「FARAWAY」と続き、ラストはTAKAがファンを思って書いたという軽快なリズムの「CARNAVAL」。そんな思い溢れる曲は常に支えてくれるファンへの感謝、そしてこれからもついてきて欲しいという想いを込めて演奏されたことだろう。）

As it was the first performance in a while by all of the four members, the members came back to the stage again to respond to the audience’s request. “You’re greedy! Oh well, we’ll give you one more! Bring it on!!” After RYO’s cry, “LOTUS,” which triggered dance tunes for defspiral, began. As if to convey that music should be enjoyed like this, the members and FREAKS jumped, clapped, and pumped their fists. The excitement was maximized in this song on that day.

（4人揃ったステージが久しぶりなだけにファンはダブルアンコールを求め、再度登場したメンバーたち。「お前ら欲しがるな！しゃーないからくれてやるわ！お前ら全員かかってこい！！」とRYOが煽り始まったのはdefspiralにダンスチューンを吹き込んだ1曲、「LOTUS」。音楽を楽しむとはこういうことだと伝えるかのようにジャンプ、手拍子、拳を突き上げるメンバー、そしてFREAKS。その盛り上がりはこの日最高潮となった。）

The tour, in which the band explodes with all their long-fostered ability and expresses all of the power of the current defspiral, will end at Hatsudai DOORS on September 22. It seems that the band will be entertaining the fans by devising various plans, such as sub-headed, two-man live, for this tour. You should feel their dignified live sound in person.

（これが今のdefspiralのすべての力だと訴えるかのように、そして長年培ってきたすべての力を爆発させるようなそんなツアーは9月22日初台DOORSがファイナルとなる。今回のツアーでは様々な趣向を凝らし、サブタイトルのある日、ツーマンの日などいろいろな要素で楽しませているという。そんな彼らの作りだす貫禄のサウンドを会場でぜひ体感して欲しい。）
